I am absolutely disgusted with Bush and the rest of the current administration leading this country, there are numerous reasons for this, the cherry on top being the unjustified war on Iraq...
As more of a humanitarian than a flag waving nationalist, I definately see the destruction of war as the opposite of peace, I believe strongly that peace should and can be achieved through means other than violence. I see no diffrence in the US war on Iraq, the illegal occupation of land by Israel, and terrorists who believe their only means of persuasions is through violence. I look at all of this in the same light, I see these examples and many more as the opposite of peace, as obstacles to peace.
I could never be President. I lack the dishonestly, corruption, hunger for power, and money to become president, and to be honest with you, I would never want to be president to begin with. I don't pretend to know how to fix all of the things I see problems with, and there are some problems (such as economical) that I just have no clue to fix. I have an extreme distain for politicians and the corruption, hipocracy, and dishonestly that exudes from them.
I don't dabble to much with economical issues, I do have to say that it is not one of my areas of expertise. I do know about the setbacks this country has seen economically, including what you were talking about as far as the overtime issue, and I agree with you that big money is what runs this country, and that middle class americans are not only neglected but taken advantage of for the sake of big money corporations and wealthy americans.
I worked for over a month recently on the streets here in Philly raising money for the campaign against Bush ( there goes that money word again, lol), as well as getting out the message to whomever I could that Bush needs to go. You would be surprised Monty, at how many people share the same view as you, as far as voting is concerned. I debated with people often about the importance of voting weighed against disillusionment torwards voting. I agree that I will not be happy with my voting choices until I see a middle class, honest, hard working, down to earth person on the ballot, however, I feel the urgency this year to get this man and his crew out of the white house, and therefore I will pick 'the lessor of two evils" and vote against Bush, though I have not quite made my mind up whether to vote for Kerry, whom I also don't care for, or another candidate.
Well, ummm, I am loosing myself here, I could go on endlessly, but I will end this post right here. I definately agree with you about almost everything you said Monty, it's always nice to see another intelligent human being paying a little attention to the world around them.
