Surgery tomorrow.....

Some pretty good news today. They put her in surgery about 11am. They feared up front the mesh would have to come out by looking at all the blood cultures and swams they did. She had two different bacteria in her. They called in a specialist in infectious disease. I sounds scary but it's just a specialist. Anyways he has tweaked the antibotics last night while I was as home. They ended up leaving the mesh in place as they found no evidence the infections got that deep inside of her, rather just at the skin level and about 1/2" deep would be the best way to decribe it. They are leaving her open until Wednesday, they have a sponge vac they call in in place, a small vaccum pump that will suck the fuids out and promote very fast healing. Right now the plan is yet another surgery on Wednesday and then they will sew her up and hopfully she can come home, but it's looking like a week right now. She is feeling alot better now............she's a very strong woman as many of you already know.
While I was at the hospital for 12 hours today, Ben and his sister went and bought a Christmas tree. It's up in the living room, he didn't go too crazy on height this year, it's only about 10' tall instead of 13'. We are going to get it decorated tomorrow and Sunday so Carol is suprised when she gets home. We have some other ideas to get her spirits up as well. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers, they are working !!!

Well she is going to have surgery for sure tomorrow. They expect to see nothing but good inside, if so then they will sew her up and she'll be coming home. She's doing very good right now, walking around alot.

Oh.........She got busted for smoking, she went outside, hid around the corner and had one. I guess she snuck some cigarettes into the hospital. What a shit head. She wouldn't have got busted but the funny thing is the doors are locked after 8:30pm, so when she went to sneek back in the door was locked :lol:

She had to stand in the cold for a few minutes until someone walked by, then she had to knock on the window so they would let her back in. :shock:

Brian,
There are no words that I can write that can explain what I feel for your family right now. I have had on both shoes, I have been the sick and I have been the sister of the sick one. In my opinion it is much harder to be the family. It is a stressful, scary time for you. I know I have said to you a hundred times but do your best to keep on your happy face for Carol. After all have you seen your face when you smile, it lights up a room, and I am sure that it will warm Carol's heart as well. It is so hard not to be sad and honestly those times are going to happen. Just remember in the end there is a reason that the 2 of you found each other. You are here to be her rock right now. Love her with all of your heart. Make her smile as much as you can as that is one of the things that she is fighting so hard for right now. I will contiue to pray that Carol gets better. And also that her doctors have the right guidance and take great care of her. You know that if you need anything I am just a phone call away.

Thanks everyone. They let her come home last night, but she's still not stitched up yet, there is a portal vac on her stomach. We have to go back in today at 9am for yet another surgery.............this is getting old. I'll keep you all posted. I hope this is the last one.
