Well there is a lot of products out there that do a very fine job, and like racing some have the flavor of the month just to get your money.
I my opinion which goes back to my 1st. job as a plater / polisher for several years and after that I was in the tool & die Ind. as a mold finisher but without having a wheel and compound(s) the next best thing is Mothers wheel paste or for die finishing we used Semi-Chrome.
Wash wheels then apply small amounts of paste to terry cloth material and rub the Alum surface by hand real good till it starts turning black. do this all over the wheel then clean the wheel and apply more polish paste and finish with a polish ball and it will bring it up to a nice luster.
I use to polish Danny Scott, Mike Prohaska, Della Woods, Shirley Muldowney etc's wheels / parts back in the late 70's early 80's
I've been thinking about getting back into some of that work as of late
