I'm running 4 miles, 4 to 5 times a week in 40 minutes and alternating chest/ bicepts with back/tricepts... Crunches every day I run.... I am loving the results... HEy, I'm finally losing my baby fat.. Not bad 41 years... LMFAO!!!!!! Thanks Bill.... I may try your suggestion... Once I get down to a body fat I am comfortable with....

DONT BEAT YOUR KNEES AND HIPS UP DUDE. A GOOD WALK IS ALMOST AS GOOD AS RUNNING.
I QUIT RUNNING AND STARTED WALKING A MILE A DAY IN THE AM WHEN I GET UP. MY KNEES LIKE ME BETTER LOL.

I CANT BENCH CAUSE OF A TORN ROTATOR SO I SQUAT AND DEADLIFT TWICE A WEEK. HEAVY SQUAT ON TUESDAY WITH LIGHT DEADLIFTS, LIGHT SQUAT SATURDAY WITH HEAVY DEADLIFTING SATURDAY.
I DO PUSH UPS FOR CHEST AND USE A RUBBER HOSE ATTACHED TO MY BEDROOM DOOR FOR BI'S TRI'S AND SHOULER STUFF. LOTS OF REPS AND SETS LESS STRAIN ON THE JOINTS THIS WAY AND AT MY AGE I DONT NEED TO BEAT ME UP ANYMORE THAN I HAVE IN MY PAST LIFE LOL.

OH GOOD TO SEE YOUR WORKING ON BODY FAT NOT BODY WEIGHT.
GET TESTED EVERY THREE MONTHS IF POSSIBLE AND STAY OFF THE SCALES OR MAYBE WEIGHT ONCE A MONTH.

TAKE THE MISSES WITH YA SHE WILL LIKE THE RESULTS ALSO.

GOOD JOB.

Kevin - Nice to see I'm not the only Nova driver working out trying to get healthy. :) I worked out for an hour and a half this morning too. I've got a NordicTrack crosscountry ski machine that I try to ride 5-6 days a week for 50 minutes at a time. Just recently added free weights to my workouts hoping that will jumpstart my progress again. So far, since May of 04, I'm down 40+ pounds, two pant sizes and have not felt this good in years. I'd still like to loose another 35lbs. Maybe by the time I make it to 41, I'll get rid of my baby fat too. Don't know if it will make the car quicker but it can't hurt!!!

bill i actually understand that a good high speed walk is actually better for u than a good run ,doesnt have the impact damage and burns just as much body fat as does a good run so long as u keep the pace steady[/quote]

your right colleen the walking is as good as running but you need to keep a steady fairly fast pace. the burn is the best lol.

kevin keep all this as a long term goal and dont get into fads as far and working out or dieting. good nutrition is dieting the right way throw in a good work-out program and stick to it. after a while it becomes second nature for you and it becomes part of your every day routine. weight trainning is good to do till your almost dead and it makes ya pretty lol
go slwo and do not get disappointed and dont go to the gym thinking you need to push as much weight and the next guy, do what you can and make it progressive and move up in weight, reps and sets when it feels right to you. :D

damn did i say all this lol didnt mean to get so wordie but i have been at this for a LONG LONG time. lol.
i'll tell ya a story about all this in bellle rose after a few beers and some shots of tequila.

i used to compete in powerlifting in the 242lb class in another life.

We just bought a home gym to add to the bike, treadmill and olipical trainer. I've been killing myself for 2 weeks now and only lost 10 lbs, LOL.
After updating the chassis, I have to lose weight or I'll not fit in the
damn thing, LOL
