Get up nice and early cause I know the ride in is going to be rough, look out the window to see flashing emergency lights and a small size truck flipped over on it's roof! Lovely! Maybe I should call in, nahhh, how bad can it be! So hurry and get ready cause I know it's gonna be rough ride, well kids I had noooooooooo freaking idea! I am cruising along on the thruway, got my morning show on the radio, heats cranked, roads aren't to bad and then.......................
The heat starts blowing cold, I look at the temp gage, dead buried on hot, crap, next moment the pinging starts, double crap, pull over and the car dies and yep you guessed, steam starts pouring out from under the hood!!!!!!!!!!!
Call Dave, tell him I'm less then a mile or two from the rest stop, he tells me to wait a little and then limp it over there! So why'll I'm waiting for the car to cool down and praying to god no one runs into the back of me cause trust me they were getting freaking close even though if I had pulled any further over I would have rolled into a ditch!
So I get to the rest stop, again wait for the car to cool down, find a lovely maintenance guy that kept getting me water to refill the radiator, I go in the trunk to the get anti freeze I know is there and woo hoo, it's frozen slush! Have I mentioned yet it was 5 degrees and 20mph winds while I am doing all this!!!!!! And who knew anti freeze froze
So luckily I only have about 10 more miles to work from the rest stop! Get to work, no problem, didn't get hot at all, in normal range! I take the anti freeze into work with me to thaw and about a half hour later go back out put it in the car, run it a little and back in to finish my shift!
I get out of work, run the car for about 10mins, okay things look good, get back on the thruway to head home and make it about 10 miles and nice we are pegging dead on hot again, pull over, even further this time, but their still weaving at me, let it cool down, drive about 6 more miles pull over and realize I am luckily only about 2 miles from the rest stop so wait about another 15 mins and head there! Once again have I mentioned that is at least now 14 degrees but we still have that 20mph wind!
I get a cup of coffee sit down and relax for about a half hour, curse several people who shall remain nameless! Go out put more water in the radiator and I am off again, this time with nothing on, nada, nothing! Have I mentioned how cold it is out!
Car seems to be holding steady but instead of taking a chance of dying on the thruway I get off at the only exit between mine and work! Took it very slow home and I lucked out that I made it!
So now I am in about 3 layers of clothes, made a pot of coffee and am currently trying to blow up my furnace
