ok, i did a ladder bar backhalf on my nova.

i have to change the bars on the back of the main hoop of the cage to attach it to the new rear frame rails.

should i just run the traditional two rear bars to the frame rails and a X to the shock crossmember or should i have a rear hoop bent up like i see some of the newer cars have ?

is one way better than the other?

There's really no difference. The bars connecting to the shock crossmember are what's important. The bars going to the back of the car are only there to hold up the back of the car.

so should i run two parallel bars to the shock crossmember or should i run them as a X ?

Anytime you can make a triangle ( X ) it will be stronger than a straight tube.

thats what i was thinking...

i really like the way some of these newer cars look with the hoop at the back of the cage. but that would cost more since i would have to buy more tubing and then i would have to have it bent. it would set me back about 2 more weeks. im trying to get it all put together asap but at the same time i am questioning if i am going to be happy with doing the bars this way, tough choices...

It's all what you want. Functionally, it will work either way. My car has a hoop just because it made it easier to mount the body and the bars don't show as much looking in the back window.
