that's one of the complaints on U.S. car companies is that they dont change fast enough.

Mind you I dont follow this much (or very closely), but I dont see the imports changing. the bread & butter cars (civic, accord, camery, maxima, etc, etc) all look the same to me & have not changed much in close to 20 years. with the exception of what honda did to the back ends of thier cars, they all look the same to me. Im sure the interiors look better & have more features than they did 20 years ago, but they sure dont look much different. simple, functional & work well. what more could anyone want from a car???? I suppose "trick looking", but for this average joe, I want a quality product, which is why I dont own an american CAR (well aside from my 66 Chevelle).

I HAVE owned american cars. I had a 96/97/98 Grand Prix it got less than 18 MPG & KILLED my back, even on short trips. I had an old turbo regal which I Loved, but it was falling appart & was not worth putting money into.

I used to travel a LOT for my company & rented just about every car that GM/Ford/Dodge makes & to be honest I was least impressed with the GM cars & most impressed with the Dodge cars (or the "Domestics"). I hated the Hyundai cars, talk about crap boxes. I did get a couple of Toyota's & they were OK.

I now drive a 98 Accord. it has 150,000 Miles on it & it regularly gets me >30 MPG, it rides GREAT, it does not cost me anything to own. Heck I put 250 Miles on it yesterday (in about 5 hours) & when I got home it was no big deal.

Mind you my wife drives a 98 Caravan & I tow with my 99 Cummins. we bought the van because Dodge was the minivan king for years & I bought the truck because the Cummins motor rules. I used to change cars every couple of years (just because Im stupid), but have stuck with these cars for quite some time now & dont forsee getting rid of anything. The next car I plan on buying is a new Cummins. I have a quad cab now & my boys are begining to out grow the back seat. I will get a newer truck with the larger back seats. Im sure my wifes minivan will die eventually & plan on putting her into a Magnum.

thats my2.3c
