Post subject:  BT Racing how that Pontiac coming
Bob, I have called all my contacts looking for a tri power intake and they have all gotten rid of them. However, Performance Years has a new repop cast alum. intake Im not sure what it cost its self, but they get 1,600.00 for a complete set up intake and carbs.

Also keep this in mind, if he finds one he can use any 2 barrel from a 1966 and newer 389, the 65's are smaller and wont work together as well as the 66 and up.

its a lot cheaper that way and you have what they sold with the tri power set up anyway.

I know a guy here at work that is BIG time into Pontiac's. If you want I can give you his E-Mail. He is like the Pontiac Dictionary, I think he knows everybody that ever owned a Pontiac, let alone raced one.

Rick he doesn't care about the year, this is a 1963 Lemans / Tempest with a 400 in it and he was looking for a Tri Power set up just because.

Hi Phil, The reason I asked is becuase they don't all interchange. 64 and back is one engine family . 65 and up is another.
Plus you have to make sure the front cover on your engine has a dimple in it to clear the waterneck. The waterneck on a tri-power intake comes out the front not on top like a regular intake. If that dimple isn't in the front cover the intake won't sit down on the motor.

Thanks for looking Phil. Things are going along slow right now because he keeps changing the plan on the rearend. 1st he wanted to use a 1980 trans am 8.5 10 bolt that he thought was the correct width, NOT. also the posi case was cracked,so not wanting to buy a new one. we moved on to a 8 3/4 mopar he had that will work width wise but he has zero brakes for it no backing plates or anything and they turn out to be the ones nobody makes a kit for because of the 5 on 4 inch bolt pattern.
so needless to say he is trying to save a few buck and it is holding me up.
But we will get there. 8)

Hi Rick
The motor is a 400 I dont Know the year of the motor. But I do know that it has "670" casting heads which I believe are 1967 400 heads with the closed chambers and big valves. It is suppsedly an old Royal Pontiac motor but who Knows.

i KNOW A GUY THAT HAS A 9" WITH BACKING PLATES, WAIT A MINUTE, ITS YOU. CUT THAT THING AND PUT IT IN, OR ADD HOUSING ENDS TO THE OTHER ONE AND GET SOME RESPLINED AXLES (SAVE MONEY).

BY THE WAY IS HE STAYING WITH THE LADDER BARS ?

Yeah Yeah I know Phil. I tried that but he is one of those spend a dollar to save a dime kind of guys and wants to try to do it the cheapest way possible by using junk he already wasted money on. :? Thats what happens when I join in the middle of a project. but it will all work out. 8)
