here's a little story....
two people are lost in the woods. they are dehydrated, hungry, a little disallusioned, and feeling alone. although they are nowhere near each other, they are feeling the same pain and looking for the same things. they would give anything for just a sip of water, a nibble of peanut butter, a conversation with another human being, a warm bed to rest in.
just when these two people are on the brink of insanity, so fed up with being thirsty and hungry and alone, they cross paths in the middle of the woods. never before had two people felt the happiness that these two felt upon meeting each other, upon discovering they were not alone in thirst and hunger, that there was somebody out there looking for the VERY same things.
after only a little bit of conversation, these two very lost, very lonely, very thirsty, very hungry people had found communion with each other, a closeness indescribable unless you've been there.
they decided that together they could find the water and food that alone neither one was able to find. they would be partners, shit, partners for life, and they would save each other from the horrid fate they faced alone.
now, in this story, our two friends DO find the water and food they are looking for, but let this narrator remind you that often times this is not the case.
after finding water and food, quenching their thirst and their hunger, these two people look at each other as if for the first time, into each other as if for the first time.
and what they found was astonishing. the happy communion, the mutual love, the admiration, the commadre had all but vanished, for no longer were they two people searching for the same thing...they had found the thing that had united them...water and food.
suddenly, but not surprisingly, our two lost friends in the woods realized that this love for each other was out of sharing the same needs, and this love was much different than true love, and it showed clearly once the needs were satisfied.
our two lost friends decided it was best after all to remain on seperate paths, and that concludes our story folks.
hopefully somebody will take something out of it.
