Post subject: | Headers for big block |
Hello everyone, my first post here. Doing a big block conversion on a 71' and was needing info on headers. The Hookers I tried to put on hit the steering box. So bad that I had to dent in 2 of the primary's almost an inch. Would like to run a cleaner setup and was hoping that someone would know of a steering box (I heard that a Vega box gave more clearance) or header (2" PRIMARY OR BETTER) that would work. Thanks for any help and looking forward to seeing more of your site. Take care, Bill |

Welcome Bill.. I think flaming river sells a box for the Nova's... I personally run a rack in my car so that has not been a concern... I know a few other guys that visit this site may have more info so stay tuned...Anyway, welcome once again.... ![]() |

Hi Bill, Welcome aboard. What engine mounts are you using? If I remember right if you go with the taller mounts it will pick the motor up and give you some more clearence, |

Perhaps you may have the wrong headers 68-74 novas and 67-69 camaro's use the same headers the gear box and steering linkage is behind the crossmember 75 and newer novas and 70 and newer camaros move the gear box/linkage in front of the crossmember .Welcome to the board and hope this helps |

I know we still have the small block motor stands on the car. Didn't know there was a difference, so the info is well appreciated. I guess these mounts will relocate the motor so the headers will clear. Hoping they move it quite a bit. Thanks and good to be on the board. Bill |
