Tell your mom not to worry....... My brother in law had a hip replacement done just this past spring......his was due to a car accident (he was hit head on by a drunk driver 10 years ago and pins were put into his hips at that time). He is a physiotherapist so he knew all the right exercises etc to do following his surgery. He is now actively coaching a hockey team and was actually working within 2 weeks of having his surgery. Remind your mom that it is a good thing and find her a good physiotherapist who can rehabilitate her and give her the proper exercises to get her back on the move again. The recovery can be painful but if taken in small steps with the proper therapy, can be very rewarding in the end. Lots of muscle rebuilding necessary afterwards. If you wish, post your email address and I will have my brother in law email you some of the things you can expect after the surgery. It is a very positive thing she is undertaking....tell her not to worry. Trish |

Jimmy....Jimmy....Jimmy.....go to the corner.... Any kind of surgery is serious as it involves cutting of the flesh and rehabilitation.... You should not be shocked at what I wrote at all....the best thing for any kind of surgery is a positive outlook.....with a positive outlook and a positive attitude, anything can happen. I tried to offer a positive outlook. Surely you can understand that!!!...then again, maybe not  Arrangements can be made to have your hips replaced anytime, just let me know when you are available and I will have my Olfa Knife sharpened and ready...forgive me if I slip and get your fingers by mistake!! |

Bob, I have a few friends that have had it done and one as soon as this past week. Gregg had it done at Royal Oak Beaumont and was up walking the next day, not far but they dont let you lay around. Your mom will have to go through a lot of rehab, my friends mom (69) (I know I'm older thank you so dont laugh) had to go into a rehab home for 6 weeks during her rehab but you can't tell. She can walk circles around me, although thats not that hard seeing how I need a knee replacement Phil |
