Keith & Larry,

A buddy(Robert Street) told me about a 409 block in Princess Anne, MD (didn't get it). After the trek we were sitting in a little restaurant having some lucnh when a friend of Robert's came in. Robert and Lloyd exchanged pleasantries and Robert says "Lloyd has some cool cars Dick, we'll have to stop by his garage when he has some time time to show them to you". Lloyd says "How about this afternoon"? So off we go to Lloyd's garage.

Now keep in mind, I can't verify anything he told me as far as the details go but the cars are pretty cool. Being a typical car guy his driveway was full of cars and a truck & trailer so we couldn't get the "cool" cars out for our 'spur of the moment' visit.

First - A Pontiac Safari Wagon. Model year has slipped into the portion of my mind where I can't retrieve it currently (senior problem, you'll get there). The story Lloyd told me is this car was a GM execs who had a Nascar engine installed as it was going down the line. Here are the pictures I could get.

Now here's what they told me about at the restaurant that really got my heart pumping. The wagon was just a bonus. After Robert says "Lloyd has some cool cars Dick, we'll have to stop by his garage when he has some time time to show them to you". He goes on to say "One of them is a 62 Super Duty." :!: :!:

3.2 miles on the odometer..........WOW

The story Lloyd told me is, The Super Duty was ordered by a dealer in Florida for his son. The son died before the car arrived and was kept at the dealership for years. A car like this has to be well known in the Pontiac community. Keith, are you familiar with this car?

By the way... the safari is for sale.

No, I had not heard of it before.

Can you shoot me a PM with the owner's name and town?

Am I free to share this with my Pontiac buddies?

Thanks-

K

BOINGGGG!!!

Excuse me, I think that I need a tissue...

:_|_:

I don't have to tell you what those cars are worth! The SD is just so far off the $$$ charts it's amazing.

These Safari's have just started to come into their own in the last few years. A rest'd 57 (100 pt car) sold for $112K last year at a R-M auction. But to have one with a NASCAR motor makes it one of 2 that I know of. The odd part of that car's story, is that I was told the NASCAR mills ran a dual quad, not trips. Trips were an option on those wagons, but they're rare as hens teeth.

If the guy's open to visitors, I'd love to see them too.

BTW-

I have a 57 tri-power intake & some carbs, because I plan to run trips on my 55 Safari. I'd love to get some pics of that 57 carb set up, so I can make my set up appear to be stock. (I love F'in with the purists)

Those cars are almost better'n sex! Damn, I need another tissue.....

Lloyd is a friend of a friend. But very open to showing his cars. If you can find your way to be on the east coast i know we can set up a time to go visit.

Robert & Lloyd live about 2 hours south of me. So I'm never just in the neighborhood. I'll see if I can get one of them to do some pictures of the tri-power. If not I plan to be in Ocean City in March for the winter car show at the convention hall. Lloyd plans to show the Super Duty there. I'll get him to run over to his house and I'll take some pictures.

Give me an idea of what you need.
