I think I thought I remember something about that. The original store in Greenville was torn down a while ago, there is a new one there now. The one in Ionia was built in the early 70's and they torn it down last summer and put up a new one also, it's a very very nice store full of foreign product...................even the apples

in my opinion.....

U.S. cars are statistically better than foreign nameplates now.
U.S. car companies employ hundreds of thousands. The highest paying jobs are here in the U.S.
Foreign car companies employ a few thousand per plant. the highest paying jobs and money go back to foreign countries. That's why they are in business.
There are extremely unfair trade laws giving a huge advantages to foreign car companies.

Our cars are better or at very least as good as any foreign car and people make every excuse to not buy here. Ignoring even all of these, the fact that almost every city and our entire nations economy is either directly or indirectly based off of the big 3 in 1 way or another. What will New York investment companies do, California's entertainment industry do, Chicago's banking industry, and even Cincinnati's personal hygiene industry do when a few more hundred thousand jobs go over seas and no-one is there to buy their goods?

Me? I'm learning chinese as we speak. Their economy can easily pass ours. Wait until they start releasing their cars here too.

Would you like a mocha grande latte with that?

Okay I have to share this.....
When NAFTA was passed and we started hearing that loud sucking sound here in Michigan, I was going off about it at a friends gathering. This one person in particular decided she was going to argue with me about it. For the life of me I could NOT talk any sense into this girl and make her understand what was going to happen, She thought I was the biggest ass in the world and she knew it all and I was full of crap.

Long store short, she approached me at a restaurant about 5 months ago and appologized for her ignorance and informed me that she and her husband had both lost their jobs, home and pensions due to GM suppliers leaving the country. To this day they are still both unemployeed and us tax payers are taking care of them.

I agree with they are building factories here. GM and others are doing that also in other countries. The trade laws are not equal when you look at export trade vs inport trade. And GM spends more on upgrades on plants than foreign car makers do building new plants!!!!!

you cant make a statement like that without proof. We know and can easily see what the tariffs are on cars coming in here. See if you can locate what the tariffs are going into japan on say a Chevy Impala. I'm willing to bet that you'll sing a different tune once you find out. The big 3 met with the president to talk about this and W told the big 3 to get bent.

I found these stats interesting after seeing the Autoline Detroit show on Speed, I decided to take a peek a while back.

Thats what I'm tryin to say. the tariffs for their stuff coming here kept being raised so they built plants here. I also know very well the cost of Exporting cars as I did that a good part of my adult life. You have CC Taxes in each country, some countries charge the sticker price of the car for tax. We don't have very many cars here that work overseas thats why I don't think theres a big deal over it. Saudi has a 12% Tax on cars so that business will always be there. Kuwait is like 15%
Japan will never buy our stuff anyway
